brain injury - truck freeway accident
This action involved a multiple vehicle accident wherein Plaintiffs’ car was crushed
in between Defendant’s big-rigs and a pick up truck. At the time of the accident, Plaintiffs
were completely stopped in traffic, when Defendant’s employee, rear ended Plaintiffs’
vehicle and pushed their car into the pick up truck in front of them. Defendant’s employee
admitted that instead of applying his brakes and downshifting, he believed that he could
downshift only to stop his big-rig.
At the time of the incident, the traffic had been stopped because of ongoing
construction work on the 183 Highway by Defendant Construction Company. Based on
information and belief, the traffic was not supposed to have been stopped but instead
diverted to allow the traffic to flow through.
All four (4) Plaintiffs suffered very serious injuries. In particular, one of the Plaintiffs
sustained multiple bone fractures throughout his body as well as suffering a severe brain
injury requiring three (3) surgeries. The other three (3) Plaintiffs also suffered numerous
severe injuries including neurological problems, cognitive problems, facial reconstruction
as well as other serious injuries.
